Halo was never intended to be played only by people who know Marathon. By your line of reasoning in the second to last paragraph, they never should have published it on the PC. Furthermore, it does not hold true that no Mac owners will have an X-box. I have a Mac, and I also have an N64. "The intersection of Mac and X-box owners is not an empty set." Heh.
