In Response To: New Enkidu - G... (Ross Mills [subnova]) If you look at the books, MC knows instinctually how to operate the light bridge. He doesn't know how he knows, but he just knows. Now, take this information, and apply it to everything that we've seen thusfar. Everybody seems to ignore this one detail, and even though it only appears briefly, a lot of detail is put into it. Combine this with what GS tells the MC in passing. Then add in the fact that the alien artifact that he found in The Fall of Reach and the symbols are instinctually familiar, but he can't put a link to those familiar feelings. Perhaps the Forerunners used humans as labor. Now, having to train stupid labor is, well, stupid. Pardon me if I'm stealing a bit from Snow Crash, but what if they programmed basic things into the human (or pre-human) brain? "Hit this button to do this." These could have stayed in there for generations. Who knows? They may have wanted the humans to "reclaim" the legacy of the Forerunners. Now, since AIs are based off of a human brain, some of this may carry over. Another thing to look at, concerning GS. "You once asked me if it were up to me, would I activate the construct..." I don't remember MC saying ANYTHING along these lines. I don't think the rings were ever activated, for whatever reason. Or, at least, ring 04. Just some random thoughts. I'd put more into my idle thoughts here, but I gotta jet to work. Until I get back, I'll leave you all to think over what I've said here, and what it applies to the whole Enkidu thing. | |
