In Response To: New Enkidu - G... (Ross Mills [subnova]) This is based on the newest message, "Whether Forecast". I'm not sure when it was updated... The first thing we see is that Enkidu is obviously on the surface of Frigid, and he is either interlaced with a Spartan or something else because he is functioning, although at reduced power because of some sort of accident. This clears up any question about who was at the Terminal. It appears that we are reading messages sent from the surface while we are still on the Lebanon. "We are exploring the grounds of [a] large building, apparently very ol[d]. It is shaped like a very broad, split arrow head pointin[g]_ into the sky with a diamond-shaped gap in the face. It seems to ha[garbled] " Sounds like a blue beamer ala Halo Level 2 to me... Anybody else agree? And "the atmosphere near the building is much richer in oxygen than the average on Frigid". What does this mean? Is something in the building releasing oxygen, or is there some sort of biosphere type thing that makes the area around the building safer? Either way, the fact that it is OXYGEN rich and not some other element suggests a relationship to humans. So...if this structure is forerunner built, that might be another connection between the forerunner and the human race. Evidently thats not enough because the crew is dying of "exposure and hypoxia". Hypoxia, according to the dictionary, is "a very strong drive resulting from oxygen deficiency in bodily tissues", so nothing surprising there. Whatever tried to make this environment life sustaining didn't completely succeed (IF they were trying...). This also means that the ground team or at least some of them are not Spartans, as the atmosphere would not be a problem for them in the MJOLNIR armor. Enkidu then goes on to talk about what they have found in the structure so far, but I'll leave that to somebody else. Enkidu is also playing around with the titles of his messages. "Shore Left" appears to be a play on "shore leave", obviously what its called when a sailor is given permission to disembark his ship and go hit it up on the town. For "Whether Forecast", weather is obviously spelled wrong, I assume because Enkidu wanted to cause a double meaning/play on words (there have been few or no spelling errors so far). Of course what the alternate meaning could be I'm not quite sure... | |
