I doubt this is probable, but if someone : nuked Jupiter and "jump started" the fusion, we would have a : star. : So, Jupiter could have been a star that failed to hit the critical fusion : neccesary to radiate like our sun. I've heard the theory of Jupiter being a failed star several times. I consider myself open-mindedly skeptical about this, though, because Jupiter just doesn't seem big enough. It could very well be true, though.
