In Response To: Re: The Ultimate PID Repentance Manaual (Lion O Cyborg) : (Blam!) weaboo isn't a swear word. Nobody's making you censor it until we get auto filters, for pfhorck's sake. (I vote to replace 'weaboo' with 'pathetically boring religion') Well, Bungie did go and make Oni during their (Blam!) phase, and for the life of me, I can't find her third eye on the box art. They filled Marathon with three-eyed monsters and then when they finally call something an Oni... The way most media does homages and lifts things isn't the way you're doing it. Sometimes they blatantly rip off things, which is dumb, but when we're talking about greek mythology, that's a lot of commonly known public domain stuff, but bungie hiding "Happy happy carnage carnage" in a map title is something that isn't shoved in your face, still makes sense if you don't get it, and is still just a funny map name. The way you're handling things is, like, trying to watch the Scary Movies or post-revival Family Guy (or, ugh, post-Demo-Reel Nostalgia Critic. Or... the movie I dare not name that preceded Demo Reel). Just "here's a reference, because we're pulling something in because of FAIR USE, the reference itself is the joke (even though it's not funny and it's not even a joke), and it's irrelevant and meaningless because our whole goal is appealing to the lowest common denominator." Except your references aim higher than the lowest common denominator, so they don't get it, and us higher level fractions are just going "uh... ok, moving on..."
