I wish I could help, but my Japanese is minimal. Living in Tokyo, I sometimes surprise even myself with how little I know.
On the topic of Marathon and Japanese, early to mid last year I traveled to the Attain offices in Akihabara and purchased sealed Japanese copies of Marathon 2 for PC, Marathon Infinity, the Marathon Trilogy Box Set, and Abuse. I was also given the Japanese player's guides for Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity, as well as the Japanese version of the Marathon Scrap Book (he had a spare from an incomplete Trilogy Box Set). If anyone would like some scans, I might be able to do them at some point.
