If you believe that, then why are you here? If there's no Underlying Mythos linking Bungie games to Marathon, then the only remaining possiblity is that the Marathon universe has closed, the creators have moved on and want nothing to do with it, and Eternal's answers to the questions are as good as anybody's.

But I think there are too many loose ends for that to be the case; all this stuff about multiple universes, an eternally reincarnated hero, and a war between order/life and chaos, which gets alluded to in Marathon and Myth but never quite fleshed out.

Which doesn't rule out their being different branches of the same timeline, diverging sometime in the 20th century. Or earlier, depending on how far from Earth the events were.

I had thought for some time that Halo's Brutes and Myth's Myrkridia were both related to PID's Ghouls, but after checking the PID page, they don't look that similar. I didn't actually compare them side-by-side, though.

I also still think the Grunts could be Nar.
