In Response To: Thothandal's non-linearity (General-RADIX)

: Before I really get into it, I want to make it clear now: I will be
: extremely irritated if anyone ignores the actual theory I want to discuss
: in favour of nitpicking time travel mechanics.

Heh... folks are getting really sensitive around here these days. :)

I am going to go right down to a point that really piqued my interest.

: Right after the SO is forced to mercy-kill Durandal in "Hang
: Brain", he gets a surprise visit from the mysterious AI. That's a
: hell of a time for them to be showing up outside of a dream level, don't
: you think? Here, and especially in Electric Sheep Three, they emphasize
: to the SO that he's finally found the right path and encourage him to stay
: to it, no matter how agonizing it may be going forward.

Interesting point. I always assumed that this was a misplaced terminal. Not only because it is outside an Electric Sheep level but also because it opens with an incorrect graphic. Though it does end with the correct graphic. Did someone just mess up or... as you suggest it heralds the start of "the right path".

Of course this entity does appear outside Electric Sheep levels a few times so its appearance here is not an exception.

Then on the Electric Sheep 3 level the wrong graphic is used again.

And all this does my story continuity head in.

Cheers
Hamish
