We all know that that pattern is destroyed to some degree every day. It changes, we learn, we grow. We're not the same person we're today that we are in 10 years. Still, whatever happens, we will always feel that our soul is with us, it just doesn't change. We know who we are.
I guess you could assume that the soul is hardcoded energy in the brain that can't be altered (or destroyed) until we die. I respect that opinion.
It's my second option of reality, after my spiritual one.
