If it was just another Forerunner relic they : were after, then the fleet would likely be small, like the Covenant that : arrived at Halo. They may not have made the realization that it was Earth, : specifically, but they knew a formidable human presence would be there. Yeah, exactly. They suspected there would be human presence there, or possibly there was somethign at those coordinates that is so important that they'd send a massive fleet to seize and take it and protect it.
