In Response To: Re: Earth and Taking/Breaking Prisoners (DuckofDoom) Even if they gave the Covenant the distance to Earth it would take a long time to find Earth. This is because you are not giving the SPECIFIC location of the planet. You are only giving a distance from a area. So if they used this they could extend a radius from Reach and a circle along which Earth could be located, with infinite locations along that circle. But then you are dealing with 3D space so you must make the circle 3D so then you have even more infinite locations at which Earth could be. In order for the Covenant to learn Earths location from a Marine, the Marine must know Earth's location relative to six different points (planets). Also these points must be located on two different axises. Once this information is given then the Covenant could easily find Earth. But then: 1)Why would they take such a small fleet to Earth? 2)Why would they be surprised to find humans on Earth? and 3) Why would a prophet themself lead an attack? Most likely the Covenant accidently stubbled onto Earth doing/ looking for something else. They brought too small of a fleet to destroy the planet, and they obviously were not conducting recon because they were surprised humans were there. Then why would a prophet lead a(n) attack/recon mission. They never did anything of the sort in other battles. Also why would a prophet put themself in an area of such great risk. It is quite obvious that they care about themselves and wouldn't seem to gamble so much. Perhaps they were searching for something involving the Great Journey, possibly even the Ark. |
