Wouldn't the destruction of Halo destroy the atmosphere? Everything created on Halo was artificial, the weather paterns, everything. They couldnt just capture something from Earth, turn it loose and expect it to do something on a metal ring. Like air, and the atmosphere. So once the mechanical parts, or engines or whatever technology runs the halo, was destroyed the vaccuum should be able to disrupt whatever is left of the atmosphere. Also, the fire would have destroyed anything that survived the explosion. One million degrees tempature, nothing could survive.
