(Scissors) Hmmm......but unless I'm mistaken, that theory doesn't explain why the Covenant want to destroy Humanity, or all of the confusing things the Monitor tells the MC (Such as "Why do you hesitate to do what you have already done"?, etc.). I think Thaumaturge's theory is more probable.
