In Response To: Let's Talk Halo 4 (Cody Miller) I thought the game looked great, but it was difficult to tell the different enemy ranks apart. Halo's "The Maw" always stands out to me with the black armoured Elites and Grunts (and the impending ass kicking). Nothing really stood out in Halo 4. Weapons: totally agree. I think 343 tried a little too hard to make sure each weapon was represented by each faction. They had the chance to do something really interesting and it's a bit of a disappointment that they're basically human weapons that shoot bright stuff. They sound great though Music: Same. It's nice, but they still played it too safe. Nothing really stands out, with the exception of the piece that plays when you first see Requiem's towers. "Return to battlefield" is annoying, but it's mainly to stop inexperienced players from getting lost. It also makes it easier to use smoke and mirrors and not have to model parts of the level that won't be seen. A skull to turn it off would be nice, but I'm guessing it won't happen. I hate the invisible ceilings when flying the banshee more. The QTE's didn't bother me - it's a (flawed) way to let players have a little interaction with more scripted sequences. Then again, I liked Shenmue and that was full of the things. Storytelling needs some work. It's not terrible, but I really would have preferred some more dimensional characters and more fleshed out dialogue. I really, REALLY don't want to see it boil down to just a bunch of hoo-rah spartans and buttoned up commanders (along with the one maverick who doesn't play by the rules but gets stuff done). Halo deserves better. I miss Firefight, if only because it could be played offline without requiring Gold. I had fun battling through ODST's firefight with my wife to try and get the achievements. I was hoping we'd get to go through Spartan Ops, but sadly not. Having said all of that, I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign, and I'm looking forward to playing through it again on Legendary. A longer campaign would have been nice, along with some more open levels. I was hoping there would be more parts like the first battle of Requiem, but sadly not. It's not perfect, but it makes me very optimistic about where the series is going. Lots of mistakes were made, but there's plenty to learn from and build on. Good times ahead.
