I don't disagree on any particular point.

My only thought is that maybe MC's visor is so busy compared to an S-IV's because they're trying to enforce the perception that John is wearing an "older" version of MJOLNIR?

Kind of like the difference in Iron Man's HUD between the Mark II and the Mark III. The Mark II was stark white and very busy, full of technical readouts. The Mark III was cleaner and specific data could be accessed from widgets rather than constantly projected on screen. Go all the way up to Avengers and Iron Man's HUD is very colorful indeed.
