At home to score is insane - all it ever does in my games is grind the game to a halt as teams are too afraid to risk giving up the Flag they're holding to go attack the other team again. There is a reason it's not in many Flag gametypes to begin with!

Plus I don't like how it makes one player, who has come all the way across the map, then have to absolutely stop and do nothing while the rest of their team messes about trying to reset their Flag.

Wait, I thought they said they were trying 5v5 but ultimately decided to stick with 4v4 since it fit the maps they were making better?

Invasion could also use that rule IMO.

Oh I understand as well - so that if teams are equal on Flag caps, they can be differentiated on kills. Problem is, when one team has the advantage in kills to a large enough extent, they can prevent the other side from getting any Flag caps at all. They make 1 to secure the win, and then have 150 extra points to grind through in kills!

I actually spent some time concepting ways to use the notion of Kills + Flag captures to differentiate teams. The closest I got to something good, I think, was making it one flag, where attackers only got (big) points for flag captures, and defenders got points for kills. I can't remember exactly where my thought-train went with that, but I ended up not liking it since I thought it would make attackers too cautious with their lives when they should be gunning for the Flag (IMO). I ended up liking the time-pressure idea better, seems more 'Halo'.

That was true in Halo 2/3, but in Reach/H4 carriers are already slower if you just restrict AAs.

I like Invasion too :) People have been asking a lot for me to do an Invasion vid (and Infection!) but TBH I hadn't thought much about Invasion in Halo 4 yet and my hopes were kinda dashed when it was announced there were no Elites in Halo 4 MP, but this could give me a good excuse to think about it more!
