Meh. There's not too many similarities, so I doubt it. The model is dated to 2007, while the Vampire concept Phil Wohr did was dated to January 2008.

On the other hand, some of the alternate designs for the Vampire look even less like the Hydra, and the Vampire wasn't mentioned in the files that Kornman dug up. So I'd guess that the similarities that do exist are because the Hydra was scrapped and some of its better design elements were incorporated into the new unit.

In addition, the two would have a pretty similar outline, so I can't imagine them both being present in the same build. So, I guess your idea is pretty likely.
