Halo has always been two things for me. The first that I discovered was that "30 seconds of fun" over and over. At first it was solo, then CE co-op, then XBC MP and finally Xbox Live. That 30 seconds of fun gave almost instant satisfaction, and was best enjoyed with friends. I've had many nights of fun, across all Halo games and platforms, that have yet to be matched by any other game. The second thing is a story and characters that I care about. There are so many rich stories, yes some are better than others, but I love them all. The tales with the morale gray areas and the tough choices are the ones I enjoy the most. Put simply, I love the lore. It most cases it takes a bit of time to read/play. So the lore may not be instantly satisfying, but the pay out in the end is totally worth it.
