Just curious on your thoughts in regards to them being a cop-out. In my opinion, it's the year 2553, or further ... for me, nano-bots should be advanced enough to where they are capable of doing that. Especially since Human's technology has advanced even more thanks to the Human-Covenant war.

The only thing I dislike about a nanobot explanation is how would these nanobots have the programmed knowledge to fix his armor, and if the nanobots were upgraded to have said knowledge, how did they get the upgrades? Did Cortana give them the upgrades? Did Forward Unto Dawn get communication with humans before its contact with the Forerunner structure before impact, which allowed the nanobots to get an upgrades?

We can also ask, "If nanobots were always on Forward Unto Dawn, how come we didn't see them in Halo 3?" Maybe they were in Halo 3, we just never seen them, or they were never explained. I can see such an explanation. We never saw the Engineers in the previous Halo games, but they were touched upon in novels. Bungie/343i only have so much memory and time -- they can't program every little detail that exists in a world.
