It kind of reminds me the aliens in Star Trek VI reciting their "history"; Spock recites the old Vulcan proverb that "only Nixon could go to China"; the Klingons quote Shakespeare "in the original Klingon". It's kind of bothersome within the universe, kind of funny in a metafictional context.
