In Response To: CEA PoA Gameplay (Stay away if you're going dark.) (uberfoop) From what I've seen so far, 343 has nailed updating the look while respecting the original visual feel. I like what Kevin said about how what they were going for is for long-time fans to see the updated visuals and say, "Yeah, that's what it should have always looked like." And there were also moments, even in this video, where Shishka switched between old and new and I had to take a second to realize which one I was looking at. And that's not at all because they didn't update it enough or anything. It's because they updated a lot and STILL got it it to look like Halo 1. It actually makes me wish Bungie had had that kind of wisdom that 343 does now when they were making Halo 2. A good example is the Halo 2 demo, which looked very, very Halo CE. Halo 2 ended up looking pretty different entirely. As an aside, when I first saw the CEA Headlong video, my first thought was, "o look its headlong." My second thought was, "Wait, this isn't Halo 2?" I'm really interested to see how the rest of the game looks. And this stuff makes me really, really interested in seeing how Halo 4 turns out. I used to say that a sequel to Halo 3 would be doomed from the start. But seeing what 343 has been doing... I'm betting that I was wrong. also lol, I like how the default response to "What is your next game going to be like" is always "Well, we have a really great team full of talented, hard-working people, and we're making a great game." Just once I want to hear, "Well, our studio is embarrassingly incompetent and nobody involved in this project gives that much of a shit at all, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting to see if the game is good or not."
