That might come across as egotistical and fan-centric, but I think it's a bit of a legitimate point. I've seen a few instances of 'artistic liberty' passed off as 'trying to appeal to new fans, but that seems like a shallow excuse. If there's a disjoint between the old material and the new that the current fans are troubled by, then what's it going to be like for the 'new fans'? Isn't it going to be hard for them to go back and enjoy the older material if it's not like what got them hooked?

As for Japanese interpretations... Meh, I guess it's not as bad as it could get, but I don't see why it has to be labeled "Combat Evolved and "Mark V".
