In Response To: Where on the Halo is Captain Keyes? (SonGoharotto) On further thought, I'm inclined to disagree that any ambiguity exists. The question of how Keyes found the "cache" is, of course, never explored in Halo 1. However, looking at the dialogue between TSC and 343GS, I think it's fairly blatantly obvious that Keyes was headed to the swamp. Basically, paraphrased: Keyes: Hey I'm headed somewhere. I may be out of contact when I get there.
Foe Hammer: We've lost contact with the captain. His ship might be out of range, or suffering equipment problems.
*Much time passes* Foe Hammer: The last transmission from the Captain's dropship was from this area. That was over 12 hours ago.
//===== At any rate, the only thing you gain from retconning the original game is a Hornet boss battle, which seems unnecessary, like it's bloating a level that was intended to be a quaint morning-esque opener to act 2; AotCR is the grand action. Not to mention, you've lost the awesome pelican tunnel shot with the light from above, which is probably one of the coolest-looking moments in the series.
