Armageddon and Deep Impact immediately come to mind. I think Reach is the Saving Private Ryan of Halo, where the Chief and Cortana are Private Ryan. Here's a the story of a group of guys who gave their lives so that you can survive. Noble's last stand felt like Tom Hanks saying "Earn this". For me it really adds more emotion and meaning to the Master Chief trilogy.
