In Response To: Enobling THEM ALL. (Minor spoilers) (Dragonclaws) : Anyone bothered by the glorification of martyrdom displayed in Halo: Reach? : The other Halo games are about surviving, maybe at the cost of other : peoples' lives, but the main protagonists always survive and are : ultimately victorious over their enemies. Reach is about dying so other : people can do that. It sort of seems like military propaganda, though I : know Bungie didn't intend that. Die in service of the people - a very : kamikaze line of thinking. I'm reminded of the Norse people, who believed : that they must die in battle so that they could go to Valhalla and fight : for an eternity. I know Americans are more fond of that theme than we : usually acknowledge, but this seems oddly extreme for an American game. : Anyone have any thoughts on this? They're going to die, so it's a choice between dying nobly and ignobly (no pun intended). Would you have been any happier with ignomious deaths for them? (One of them sort of got one).
