Plus, many sections were microcosms of : nonlinear levels. The part with the covenant on the upper landing was : great. It gave many options. You could try to get up the stairs and fight : from there. You could stay downstairs. You could stay on the stairs. : Because the enemies were everywhere, as opposed to just right in front of : you, the game felt open. *routes Um, how does the upper landing battle give you any alternate routes? There is only one route--UP THE STAIRS. Yeah, you can fight on the bottom floor, top floor, or middle floor, but it is still linear. That has to be one of the MOST LINEAR SPACES EVER DESIGNED. It's "take the stairs" or "stop playing the game" If THAT is your idea of non-linearity, then you should be happy with Reach. You can shoot at enemies from far away, or move a little to the left, or move in close, or change weapons. Look at all the alternatives!!
