Either way, the map looks : frustratingly linear. It's like they ignored all the complaints about : linearity. Even if it LOOKS wide, I want to GO there. If I can't GO there, : it doesn't count. From my possibly inaccurate doodle, the first section especially looks pretty "linear", but keep in mind this is the first mission of the game and I think that is 1000% appropriate for the first mission (Pillar of Autumn vs. Halo). Bungie has been talking about multiple routes and sandbox encounters, but you have to be realistic in your expectations--this isn't Oblivion. In FPS games there is always going to be a point A to point B layout to every mission (linear!), it's how narrow is that path and how fun is it to travel it more than once. I'm not worried.
