Map of Halo: Reach mission 1 *speculation SP!!*
Posted By: pete_the_duckDate: 2/16/10 8:27 a.m.

Maybe I just like puzzles, but I had the urge once again: I did my best to map out the first level of Halo: Reach from the screenshots and latest ViDoc Bungie has released.

SPOILER WARNING

This post contains my best guess as to the layout of the entire first level of Halo: Reach. If you do not want to risk the chance that I could be at least partially correct and spoil that experience for you, LEAVE NOW

SERIOUSLY

If you want to experience the opening to Halo: Reach completely fresh, LEAVE NOW

Okay, now that we have that out of the way, here's what I came up with:

(I would reference the screenshots I used and where I believe they fit in the above map, but there were 37 and it seemed like more effort than it was worth)

I could be very wrong, and there are a few sections that aren't clear where they fit in with the others. And keep in mind, this is a doodle--it is meant to give a general idea rather than perfectly match line-of-sight in the screenshots.

It isn't clear if you actually reach the large satellite dish or where you pick up the vehicle. There could also be sections of the level that are completely missing from my map--the driving portion might be much longer than it appears in the screenshots.

It looks like the mission ends in a firefight-style holdout in the large structure (maybe that is an area that has also been used for a multiplayer/firefight arena--which if it is a firefight map, is awesome. Enemies could land in the center courtyard and out front, forcing you to defend inside the structure from two directions), and I suspect the falcon rescue in the ViDoc is actually the end of this mission.

The only thing I can't quite place is the Falcon ride in the ViDoc--if it is from the end of the mission, you're flying in the wrong direction. It could be from the opening, or I might have the mission layout backwards (but I really doubt it)

Thoughts?
