In Response To: Re: Please tell me that was... (SPOILERS) (TDSpiral) : I didn't mind the voice actor for Cortana in Origins, but it would've been a : lot cooler if they got the original voice actors to reprise their roles. : Oh well. I have mixed feelings on the matter. I really didn't like the lack of Steve Downes in The Package, and although Cortana's voice in this wasn't bad in the least, it still wasn't Jen Taylor. I also fully understand that due to the spread out times and locations of recording sessions it would have been crazy to fly out Steve Downes or others over and over again to do the recording, so they just didn't do it. But at the same time, it almost gives a clear sign that 343 is absolutely not Bungie, and even though this is still Halo and (thus far) it's being handled pretty magnificently by 343, it's still not Halo. And thus we have a paradox. It's all Halo, but when viewing canon and the attachment to the characters as coming almost exclusively from the video games for the vast majority of Halo fans who apparently have never read the novels, and from the hardcore of the hardcore who have their love grounded in the characters and their depictions from the games, the lack of the original voice actors is somewhat unsettling. And I know how I worded that whole sentence, but the "unsettling" bit is my own opinion about myself, not an attempt at describing how the vast majority of all people (or anyone else) thinks. I'm so ready for Halo to be over and for Bungie to move on, but then I don't hear the voices in Legends and get upset that it's even slightly different from the Halo I know and love. Damned mixed emotions.
