Anime isn't about imitation of life like Western Animation.
It's about exaggerated emotions.
Letting the pictures tell the story instead of the actors.
Just from reading your post, I can tell you're incredibly biased against Japanese Animation, and you are probably ignoring the fact that Western Cultural Art has always focused on realism and lifelike styles, while Eastern Art is more about emotion and conveying a message.
