This is essentially why I have little interest in indulging anime apologists by listing the (by now, hundreds... sadly) of anime shows and movies I've sat through the years, due to friends constantly attempting to show me "the good stuff." It hasn't been for lack of trying, anime is popular amongst the people I enjoy spending time with, and I don't enjoy not being able to share that interest with them. However, it is extremely frustrating to be met with "Oh? Well, you just haven't seen "Supah Kawaii Desu Desu Girl!", that's really good animus!" any time I bring up any criticism of the genre.

Needless to say, I am very much aware of the difference between Pokemon and the so called "good stuff." The difference is insignificant, unfortunately. After so many examples of awful anime, I doubt that even a Halo collection of stories will break such a long and distinguished losing streak. I don't make it a habit of writing off entire genres of art or music, but anime is the only one I've encountered that is so consistently overrated and outright terrible looking.
