Bungie GOD? Just one of many companies! PLS. READ!

I, myself, am more of an id : follower. I think our two dieties are closely related but came from : opposite ends of the heavens (or in id's case, perhaps hell :). I am not a : huge Marathon fan or Myth fan. I don't think I've ever played Myth in : fact, can't seem to remember. Why am I so sure this game will be one of : the greatest ever? Well I have yet to meet a person on this forum or : anywhere else to convince me otherwise. Usually their arguements against : the game bring up aspects that I think make the game better. And there's nothing wrong with that is it? I have seen (but not played) Myth, but it's not my kind of game! I have no idea what Marathon is like, however I am curious, perhaps someone could mail me the game and a mac emulator, or post a link? (Sorry, I still don't buy games, especially dated ones (with the only exception of Audiogenics 'Exile', and underrated CLASSIC! =o) ), only those which are exceptionally good, I have played literally hundreds of games, it's a passion, and if I had to buy them all, I wouldn't be able to pay my rent, let alone buy food). I will buy Halo ofcourse.. for PC! It's a special game, even if it turns out to be shit! You could say I have quite a general knowledge about games, and what can and connot be done on a computer. I've always had a vision of what a 3D game should be like and Oni/Halo comes close to it (Seen that game 'Exo' ,not sure something with an X, in this months Edge magazine =o)? I always wanted to create games myself, or better, have people work out my visions/idea (like george broussard? digitizing textures = lame by the way), but then again who doesn't! I'm still impressed by disney's 'tron', the graphics/hugeness =o) ... When will there be a decent Tron game? Does every game *have* to have textures? Oh wait, in this millenium it does! : I haven't : been this excited about a game since Doom, and we all know that Doom was : the FPS that started the shockwave. Same here, but I don't want Bungie to make poor decisions (1400+ samples/Cortana guiding you trought the game, that's frustrating, I don't want to see this game turning into shit, because of essential dicisions like these, which leads me to conclude that the game is rushed, and my hatred to MS will be even greater) : From all I've gathered about Halo and : the people involved with it, I can almost smell the gameplay goodness. Who : knows, I could be wrong. Halo COULD flop. Then again... Bill Gates COULD : start a tree service. I was an Amiga fan (or should I say commodore fan, it all started with C64 sigh), then commodore eventually decided to compete with sega/nintendo and created that ugly looking CD32, I was frustrated, how could they make such a decision? Amiga was different, that's why it was so popular! The result: Commodore went bankrupt. Sad indeed, but they deserved it, that's life... Now it's microsoft's turn with their xbox (I personally have no interest in the xbox), why should I buy a console why I can play games better on a PC? I doesn't even have a mouse! (And I DO NOT like the gamepad, when will there be a NEW way to control games; Example: MS strategic commander with thumbstick + mouse). Xbox reminds me so much of the CD32. I'm not sure if MS made a good decision with their xbox. But I laugh hard if it'll turn out to be a flop! And now there's Halo, a game with potential, a game I'm looking forward to indeed (Obsession? Perhaps!)! A game which could change everything, an example for future games, like Halflife was! Now that MS bought Bungie, there's a deadline, things are rushed... And it shows! I hope Bungie are doing things right, if not, they won't have my pity! However, I will buy the game nonetheless (probably), I just hope it will still have some of it's magic, it's freedom, exploring! Why does Bungie have the tendency to do things different (IE Oni, autosave/cam through walls), why is the jeep's control so illogical? Why not drive/turn jeep with left stick only, and use right stick for cam? (But I'm glad they ditched those circles for aiming in the old vids). *Shrugs*. To me these are silly mistakes, poor decisions, and I'm questioning whether Bungie is 'capable' of making games (strange thing to say huh?), sure their vision is right, like Oni (a game I also was looking forward to), but the result is dissapointing, sure it was a good game, but the levels were dull, linear, no multiplayer, bad texturing... And that's why I'm so curious about Marathon (series), I would love try the game, experience it for myself, find out why Bungie has somany 'followers'/'fans' (And I wonder if it are Mac-people only?) Halo is a great game, with some serious potential, I just want to enjoy it to the fullest, I don't want an AI to tell me where to go, I want to figure that out for myself. And I like a serious approach (Aliens/The Thing), sure it's fun when a bob says "I got shotgun man!" but howmany 'funny' things can we expect in Halo? I also like the idea of being ALONE (as in Halflife perhaps)... Not too many bobs to help me out etc... I don't want it too linear either, I want to play it more than once! And what's Bungie's definition of AI... Will the covenant be clever enough to jump in a banshee and fly away (not scripted when they are flying)? Small things like this makes it lose it's magic! Again, I'm not sure what to expect of Halo, but if I can have some sort of saying, I will do so! I know some of the Bungie-folk visit this forum! My posts (or from others) can be seen as hostile/criticizing or whatever, but for me it's pure frustration (why the hell are they doing this or that? for what reason?)... And it amuses me that whenever someone says something negative you can expect to be called a "troll" or a "then leave" post... That just shows how mature some of you are (where's your perspective?)... Criticism is not bad (especially from honest/objective people), you could learn from it, learn from your mistakes. - DeAdLy_cOoKiE ™
