(Gravemind) : All this shows is that the majority of gamers are a fickle bunch, ready to : jump on the bandwagon once "new hotness" comes out, regardless : of whether new hotness is all it's cracked up to be. Just as long as the : game's playable (i.e., not a total piece of shit riddled with glitches, : broken controls, etc.) and looks nice, they'll dig in with a big smile on : their face. They probably don't care about or even notice the little : nuances that determine whether a game is a masterpiece or merely decent. : They're the plebians. The Philistines. The lowest common denominator. We : the true, dedicated fanbase that don't abandon our favorite game just : because the next big thing comes out will keep Halo 3 going strong for a : long time to come. We kept Halo 2 on top for 2 years, and even then Gears : was the only game than surpassed it (though I wonder what the stats : would've looked like if the Xbox and 360 kept tabs on players' activity : the same way). CoD4 might be on top now, but its days are already : numbered. Eventually, the next big game will come out and displace CoD4 : from the top spot (most likely GTA4, and then GoW2 will displace it later : on; can't think of any other really huge titles coming to the 360 this : year). However, Halo 3 will remain strong. It may even recapture the top : spot on occasion (watch out on the 15th, and when the third or any othe : future map packs come out). I think CoD4 is just a fad. The whole : "Whee! I get to use an M16. Oooh. I just leveled up again. : Moar!" routine will get old. But Halo is forever. I may have my : gripes about Halo 3's gameplay, but it's the still the best multiplayer : experience the 360 has to offer. : Okay. That's enough pointless fanboy posturing from me. Now let's stop
This is the best post I've seen period. Spoken like a true Halo Fan. I commend you for your service and dedication to the UNSC and the Halo Nation. :salute:
