In Response To: Re: Cortana Letter *SP* (Narcogen) : There are still a lot of logistical nightmares to work out, I think, before : one reaches a reasonable explanation that integrates this theory into all : the other things we know about the Haloverse. It was something I thought about when we thought that Truth knew a lot more than it turns out he did. (Sneaky Truth) : For instance-- if humanity became a spacefaring society, established
: However, there are some problems with that. According to the comic, when the
These thoughts were prior to the release of Halo 3. I was just talking about the early history of my thoughts on that snippet from the Cortana letters. : In fact, it's probably more meaningful if the relationship was chosen rather
But you now have to explain why were picked. What did they see in us, 100,000 years ago? Did they think we were particularly brave? Braver or more ferocious than an Elite? Good looking? Did our legs bend the right way? Did they like our cave art? What tech aptitude did we show? A talent for higher mathematics? How did we show that? You have the above and the below, all in one story. : is a more interesting story than the idea of humanity that
Maybe we are trapped in a cycle, today's hero/solution becomes tommorrows villan/problem. Are we doomed to repeat our history because we don't know it? The librarian thought that the Forerunner were part of the problem. He may have thought that we would do better. But isn't that just wishful thinking? Isn't the mantle itself the problem? Are we getting a poisoned chalice? What do you know of the human race that would make us a good candidate for running the galaxy? :-)
