In Response To: Re: This is my point, exactly. *CH* *SP* (elpolloguapo) : And just to clarify on the debate we've been having, I think that there's an : excelent chance that we are Forerunner, I'm split about 50-50. I just : think that you're approaching it with your mind closed. I tend to just : take whicever side most people aren't taking in a debate, it leads to more : results. I thought I was in the minority :-) But if F!=H then the Covenant tried to exterminate us for the wrong reason. And the MB(?) Oracle got worked up for nothing. He was convinced that we were Forerunner. Although... It is possible that MB was not told about us because he was abouts to go into battle with GM and Didact didn't want GM to know about us should MB loose. The Luminaries would be reprogrammed to recognize humans as Forerunners, to display the Reclaimer glyph for humans as well as for genuine Forerunners. We become honorary Reclaimers. When MB sees the Reclaimer glyphs he, mistakenly, believes that we are true Forerunner-Reclaimers when we are really only honorary Reclaimers. That is possible. I don't believe it, but it is possible. Maybe we should just ask Frankie in the next Q&A session. Though on consideration... Sparky would be able to see that we were not Forerunner species. Of course he would have been invited to the staff meetings that MB missed and he would know about Human-Reclaimers, so he wouldn't be suprised to see us. But would he expect primative Human-Reclaimers to know about class 12 combat skins? And would he have made the 'last time' comment to a non-Forerunner-Reclaimer? Did he know that human-Reclaimers were hunter-gatherers on Earth at the time of the last Array activation? I suspect that he would have (if he had been to those hypothetical staff meetings that MB missed). I think that things would be too twisty and hard to follow if the F==H statements in Joe's book were just a ruse. It adds a degree of complexity to the story for no particular pay off (that I can see). Bungie has already rejected our interpretation of Truth-the-manipulator. We HBOers loved the idea that the Prophets had fooled the Elites and that the entire Covenant was a ruse. The attack on the Elites was the plan from the beginning. Bungie could have gone with that. They could have gone with a sneaky Arbiter who would betray us if it suited him. We could have had multi-way battles with different factions of Elites and Grunts and Hunters and whatever. But they decided to keep things simple. I don't think that they want to pile on more twists to the story. Remember what happened to the X-Files? It got to the point where nobody cared about the black oil and the bees.
