There was a thread about this a while back that basically said the deaths we are used to in games are more gory than is realistic anyway. I think a realistic level of gore is called for.

On a related note, has there ever been a study that attempted to determine whether the graphicness of portrayed violence has any link to violent behavior in real life? I know of at least one study that would imply otherwise.
