Actually, the best way to stop cheaters involves several large spiders, some lighter fluid, a gerbil, a two-foot piece of PVC pipe, and a long match--but it's too time-consuming to use on all of them. The problem with cheaters (and glitchers, etc.) is that they don't care that people know they're douchebags. It's the same mentality you see in people who write viruses, or crash forums for fun, or spray pornographic graffiti on the side of a school. It's a power trip; it doesn't matter that they're breaking the rules, or that their potential victims are angry. The only real way to stop the widespread cheating is for Bungie and the XBL staff to bring down the ban hammer, and bring it hard. I think we can trust them to do it--the Bungie crew can't be any happier about the situation than we are.
