I would guess that they have at least 100 new threads started about cheaters on the forums each day and the Official Cheaters Thread is now over 8500 posts since December 4th.

You're right, it is just a game --one that isn't as much fun when you are sitting at a blue screen or meleeing a player who simply can't die. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the game, but the cheating is just out of hand. I assume Bungie is reviewing the netcode and Microsoft is checking into the Xbox Live service to see what can be done. If it can be fixed, I have every bit of confidence that Bungie will do it. For now though, you better be cautious going into matchmaking. Chances are you are going to get cheated out of a fair experience.
