...and do it well. (My Experience) | |

In Response To: Just do it (ragereset) : I was stuck there for quite a while but I got through it with no assistance
I felt the same thing too, rage, when I first hit the checkpoint. I didn't want to check the internet until after I got past it....stubbornness. :) First of all, I'd like to say I had a terrible checkpoint after the first hangar bay. I had set myself up on the stationery gun, to try it out, so every time I died I had to first get off of the stationery. Secondly, one of the marines was in the process of dieing because I took so long to get over to the door; the plasma cannons would rip him apart before I could kill the operators. So....going into the room, I was at a disadvantage. I thought I was trying everything: giving my battle rifle to the marine, and dual-wielding plasma rifle and SMG. My strategy was to run up guns a blazing, taking out one or two grunts, before wedging myself into that little hidey-hole created by the pillar holding up the parapet that the plasma turrets are on. Then, when my battle rifle marine started his assualt, I would chuck my only two plasma grenades; usually that would kill the first wave of baddies. This is always where I ran into trouble. I was out of grenades, and while I could always run for the room to my right with the battle rifle and the three frags, or back to the first hangar bay to get more plasmas, the marine would often die if I left him there. So, the second wave would come in and I would have no legit strategy to use because of the weapons I had picked, the location I was using, and the way I used my marine. Looking back now, with the added hindsight of mike's videos, I can tell I would handle things a bit differently. This discussion also gives me hope for some levels; before this, I never wanted to play Cairo Station again. My sensitivity is also lower than Mike's. As soon as I can plow through all the work over here, I'd love to try a couple of the different techniques mentioned here. Cheers, -Jam
