In Response To: Your 2004 Halo Predictions (CobaltNova)

Halo 2

It will be released when the third planet aligns with the seventh.

Hordes of fans will swamp the streets around local Gamestop and Funcolands. Police with riot gear will be required to control the mob.

There will be a shortage of copies. Anyone without a preorder or reservation will have to preorder or reserve a copy that will be printed within two weeks. It will be three months before the game starts showing up on the shelves at Wal-Mart and the like.

It will contain 25 levels, some of which will take place on Earth, Threshold, Halo ruins, a Giant Space Station above Earth, the Moon, an Underwater Forerunner facility, the Covenant Homeworld, a Covenant Battle Cruiser, and one very special level that will take place only inside the mind of the person or persons playing that game at that moment.

Every reviewer that reviews it will give it a solid ten out of ten, even publications that don't review videogames will start because of Halo 2s phenomenal success. This will lead to videogames being more mainstream and will cause a significant boom to the industry, more indie or art house games will finally have a profitable market. Innovation will spread like Halo 2s success.

You will actually take control of Cortana at some point in the game, in which you will be required to hack a Covenant computer system.

It will feature massive battles in the single player campaign that will involve hundreds of Covenant forces vs. hundreds of Human forces. There will be flyable vehicles for both sides in the battle.

Xbox Live sales will increase.

The multiplayer will astound.

The Bungie Community

Marty O' Donnell will mobilize his army to take control of the United Nations. Dramatic musical score will ensue.

Jaime Greisemier will discover a new element know as "Lithuanium-Hydropoxy-Stratica". In it's base form it will be easily converted into a highly useful silicon substitute that will used in making DVDs that can hold 10,000 times more information than is currently available. He will announce that the design and development of Halo 3: BLAM! will utilise this new technology.

It will be discovered by an old woman that Jason Jones is actually a 900,000 year old Forerunner being, and that the story of the Halo games are actually based on historical Forerunner events that happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

The movie Bladerunner will become real. That's right, you heard it here first. Overnight, Los Angeles will suddenly transform into the gritty futuristic world that is portrayed in Bladerunner. Ironically, many of the movies "Replicants" will apply for jobs at Bungie...and get accepted.

The online Bungie fan community will swell and bloat in size with the release of Halo 2, prompting Bungie to further unify their fans by setting up a physical, real-world location for the Seventh Column. It will be operated and run by the Bungie Elite, and wholly owned by Bungie.

Training camps for the Marty Army will be built seven miles from the Seventh Column facility, which by then will have been christened the "Pheonix Tower".

The Microsoft Games Division will bring all of its developers under Bungies roof. Bungie will then weed out the negatives and leave only the positives. Quality game output will triple by the end of the year as Bungie further solidifies itself as an unstoppable force in the gaming industry. The Replicants from Bladerunner will do really cool stuff here as well, but it will mostly appeal to other Replicants of the two to three year old demographic.

Ed Fries will accidentally spill coffee on Bill Gates at a meeting which will then prompt Gates to grow weary of his presence at the Microsoft Games Division. Gates will nurture a growing hatred of Fries over a seven month period which will ultimately end in a spectacular light saber battle atop the Microsoft HQ in which Gates and Fries will notice that their skills with a light saber and knowledge of the "Force" are so evenly matched that they decide to join forces. Fries then convinces Gates to ditch development on everything else and focus solely on videogame development for the Xbox and its future platfoms. Bungie will be the only developer by then and will have all of Microsoft Games Divisions talent under one roof.

World Domination is Eminent, to Resist is Futile...
