Back on topic now: Perhaps 343 GS isn't bothered by the Flood because of the way the Flood decide whom to attack. Possibility-The Flood determine friend or foe based on consumability. (I know it seems like common sense to assume that, but it's still worth stating.) This is probably the best theory I know of... They consume humans, elites, grunts, and jackals, if I recall correctly-they also at least attack hunters. I have no idea why there aren't Hunter-Flood variants... but discussing that would be askew from the subject at hand anyway. They attack all biological life-forms. It's safe to say they can tell the difference between man and machine. They DO attack Sentinels-perhaps because they've encountered them before, and more likely because they don't like getting toasted (literally). One wonders why... Maybe the Flood see in infrared...? Perhaps 343 GS generates very little heat compared to the other things around him-Sentinels and the MC, in the case of the game. The flood carry most of their natural characteristics with them when they take hosts-the garish coloring and nasty smacking ability, for example-and if they kept their method of perception (in this theory, infrared) then we'd have an explanation, at least. It's merely conjecture, but that's why I love it so. You know, 343 GS has a knack for avoiding the Flood-sometimes I wonder if he's not unlocking doors behind you for the Flood to get through and catch up to you every time he leaves you alone on The Library. He's probably testing your Class 2 Armor. (I want Class 12-really! :P ) Bah, I've digressed again. Halo's world is so intricate... it's hard to focus on any one aspect of it. Anyway, that's my more-than-two-cents. | |
