And he introduces himself to you, as he knows of your kind : , aka the forerunners? Yes, but in the book he thinks you know everything about the Flood and Halo itself. He is puzzled when you ask him some question. Obviously the Forerunners wouldn't forget what Halo was, let alone the AI they put there to guard it. Unless the Forerunners didn't put 343 GS there to begin with as some people theorize.
