No, if Nintendo sells the Dolphin for just about any price, even under $99, the company will not go out of business. Game companies never expect to return much in the way of profits from their console sales. In many cases they lose money, but it's not a problem since the REAL money is in the games and licensing. Also, as far the hard hitting games Christian claims the N64 lacks, keep in mind that Capcom and Square used to focus on Nintendo in their pre-64 days, and abandoned ship because they felt too limited by Nintendo's cartridge system. The Dolphin will no longer have that problem, so Nintendo's former dream team of companies may make a come back. Capcom has already shown interest in Nintendo once again, as is evident by the release of an improved RE2, and even Eidos is starting to poke around with the company. Also, don't forget, Nintendo makes the best first party games on the planet!! Plus, they have Rare backing them up, who is, in my opinion, the Bungie of console gaming. I'm not saying this because I'm an avid Nintendo fan. Heck, I value my PSX quite a bit more than my N64. I just don't think Nintendo is going to go out with a whimper. Mr. Eez P.S. Pokémon is a good game, it's just the marketing that drives everyone nuts. | |
