I just heard from someone that Linus Torvalds is going to be buying a majority of Microsoft stock within a few days. Apparently he's made enough money with Linux and that whole Crusoe thing to do this, and with this impending Microsoft-buys-Bungie deal coming, Linus felt the timing was right.

Once he holds the majority, the guy I was talking to (he talked with Linus once on usenet somewhere) said he was going to make Microsoft port OS X to the x86 platform, after they buy it from Apple. He said Apple is trying to sell their new OS because they've spent too much money on it already and need to cut their losses.. their market analysis has shown that OS X won't sell enough on just Mac platforms to make it profitable.

Who better to sell it to than Microsoft? They have plenty of money.

And look at this: OS X is based on a BSD kernel. A unix. Linux is another unix. And Linus is going to own Microsoft.

All kind of falls together, huh? I do think it means Halo and Oni will be ported to Linux. Since Torvalds will own everything, it won't matter if it comes out on Windows or Macs anymore.

If you ask me, it's really a last-ditch effort on Microsoft's part to prove they're not a monopoly, and avoid the breakup they've been ordered to do. If they scrap Windows (which they will), it means innovation still exists, and they won't have to break up.

Since Linus is from Finland, I also think it means Microsoft will be moving to Europe, and in a couple years, Finland will be a dominant world power in deciding global policy due to 99% of all software coming from that one country.
