This is not the sort of question that can be answered with math. Or perhaps it is, but your equation does not include certain key variables.

Imagine, if you will, a sandwich. You have eaten sixty percent of the sandwich. There are perhaps four or five bites left. But were all the previous bites the same size, and did you take each bite at a measured, uniform rate? Is there any evidence to suggest that future bites of the sandwich will exhibit any degree of uniformity?

Perhaps the rate at which you consumed the sandwich slowed when you found yourself conversing with a friend or an attractive member of the opposite-or-otherwise-desired sex. Perhaps that person left the table, unable to stand your habit of talking with your mouth full, and your full attention returned to the sandwich and the rate of sandwich consumption increased dramatically as you attempted to quell your burning sense of shame by gorging yourself. Perhaps you even stopped eating for several minutes to go outside and attempt to befriend the plastic Ronald McDonald statue that smiled so warmly at you from his spot on the bench near the tables shaped like the Fry Guys.

This is a situation where simple math will not help you.

In any case, I don't think you need to worry about Halo shipping 2 years from now.

Louis Wu has, in his infinite wisdom, already answered this question for me - on the main page no less - but what the hell.

Yes, eventually the rest of the world will get to see this. Joseph and Marty and the Halo team would not have put so much effort into something and not release it to the world at large, in some form, at some point.

To close with a preemptive strike: no, I don't know when it will be released because we haven't decided that yet, and no, I'm not willing to make any guesses.
