We found out about the simulacrums in M2: Remember that picture at the end of Big House? It showed a bunch of differences from regular bobs, namely in eyes and feet. My guess at the time, and the opinion I still hold, is that, just like human engineers, the pfhor based their tech on something they could copy from their own anatomy or enviroment. (i.e., that airplanes developed as a result of bird wings, and cameras are a retina-lens construction)
The A-bob's feet, for example, were shaped like pfhor feet. The eyes are red, like the pfhor. Is this because they don't understand how to make a human foot work on robotics or genetically-engineered animals? So the yellow blood is something they know how to make, and since the simulacrums are cyborgs, perhaps this is real pfhor blood transfused into some kind of genetic horror. Those A-bobs weren't merely robots, and pfhor didn't have the concept of "civil rights" yet.
