In my post on Rubicon's FUD , I touched on the : possibility that the brown goop might contain Pfhor larvae and, in Wading : in Vitriol, that the Pfhor might metamorphose through a series of stages : leading ultimately to what we see on the High Council. So when we lose health in the gross goop, it's the larvae biting us? I can't imagine that regular sewage would hurt us much, unless our cyborg is VERY sqeemish! =^) :But of course, what : the Rubicon Team had in mind may not reflect Bungie's original thinking. I : think that it would be incredibly short-sighted to assume that Pfhor have : a single stage in their life cycle. It would also be naïve to assume that : they have traditional male and female roles (for some reason, I've always : thoght of enforcers as female). Now the assumption has always been that : the wasps are a genetically engineered insects that have been designed to : attack everyone but Pfhor. Your idea is equally plausable. The wasps : might represent the earliest stage of Pfhor development and - here's an : interesting thought - the egg may represent not the developmental home of : the wasp, but rather a cocoon (sp?) Yes, I hadn't thought of the cocoon at all: that sounds really good! Do you remember also how there was whole banks of eggs in Rubicon and M1? Much like an ant colony or a honey comb. But I do have a residual question: Why would the pfhor carry their young into battle? They have FTL drive, so I couldn't imagine the need for coniguous generations of crew. :The solitary egg in Ain't Got Time Pfhor This : appears to be special - perhaps this is the birthing place for a Pfhor : queen. This could present an interesting plot twist for a new scenario. A new queen, maybe? That sounds really likely, Steve. Maybe the Pfhor high-council are the queens, and they're sitting on eggs, or ovipositors? On another note, I don't think the wasp-pupa theory applies to the lookers. I think they're just little cyborg-tech walking bombs. That's plausible, because the Russians did the same thing with "cyborg" dogs. Working on Pavlov's research, during WW2 the Russians trained dogs to eat under tanks. So when battle came, they'd strap remote-controlled bombs to the dogs (which technically makes them cyborg battleroids). They'd release the dogs facing the enemy, and the dog would sit under the German tank and blow up, apparently waiting for a meal. I think that the lookers are exactly the same thing. Maybe there's "wild" looker that don't blow up, and kind of acts normal? Maybe the pfhor train the lookers to feed from the hand of a "human" doll? "Be kind to lookers: They love you!" By the way, the Russians had a big problem if the dog got turned around the other direction and saw the Russian tanks first. "Nyet, pooch! Nyet!" =^D That happened a lot. See? That's where Bungie got the idea of berserk battleroids. Shemoovin'
