: The shotgun and SMG
: have similar theta error (3.5 degrees vs 2 degrees, a difference of maybe
: 1/2 a WU at 20 WU), and dual shotguns vs SMG are more than an even match
: at long range.
That is interesting. Now, oddly, I'd swear the Shotgun is quite a bit less accurate than the SMG at a distance. If you don't believe me, fire a Shotgun at a distant wall. Now fire an SMG at the same spot. Notice how the SMG bullets all pile into this tiny little spot, while the Shotgun pellets just fill up a medium-sized area on the wall. Granted, it's accurate enough to take out enemies at medium-range easily, and do a fair bit of damage to enemies at long-range. However, the SMG will easily tear you down at long range if you don't get cover fast. The Shotgun will only kill you in one fell swoop at close range. The Shotgun would do better on a map like Mars Needs Women (fairly tight corridors, not a whole lot of long-range action), while the SMG would do better on a more wide-open map, such as Thrud (long distance combat in abundance).
Cheers,
