: Anybody ever seen Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda? That show is to Star Trek
: what Halo is to Marathon. It holds a lot of similar creative synthesis in
: its creation, and it's done by the same people/person/whatever, but it you
: can never ever say that Halo and Marathon's connection is absolute and
: entirely purposefuly linear.
Not really relevant, but Andromeda was only *conceived of* by Gene. His wife Majel was the one who saw it finally put into a TV show, by a bunch of people almost entirely unrelated to the production of any of the Star Trek series, and only a good while after Gene had died, too.
Earth: Final Conflict was another Gene Roddenberry post-mortem creation, if I recall correctly. Personally I was a lot more fond of that than Andromeda, at least in the early days. Though hell, Andromeda was pretty rocking early on too. Both shows seem to have taken a nose dive after a while, though :-(
Stargate pwnz(ed) all of them anyway.
