In Response To: Marathon standard I'm confused about (Scumbag) : Hey folks. Quick little question, from a Halo player who has been looking at
On the controls front, simply enable mouse control and remap the keys to WASD, with Shift to run, Tab for map, Space for action, and R/F to cycle weapons, and it's not so bad. I just played all the way through Marathon 1 for the first time and it was a blast, using M1A1 1.5. : Durandals all "I can be a God", right? Well, he's still an AI,
Well, for one thing, he's insane, so you have to take anything he says with a grain of salt. For another, presumably he become as powerful as anything in our universe can be; humans are just neural patterns stuck in wetware. If the fictional Marathon universe allows some sort of transcendance then I don't see why Durandal can't make it. It's all up to the rules of the universe. Read "Destination: Void" by Frank Herbert for a disturbingly similar plot. (I really want to see someone do a "Marathon: Void" scenario, where you take on the roles of Timberlake and/or Flattery being ordered around by Bickel, Hempstead, the OMCs and eventually the Ox via computer terminals. The threats are robox repair units, odd physics phenomena, radiation, and the ship itself.)
